Our wedding story started….when Graeme proposed Christmas Day 2015!
“My Wedding” Photographer
Jacques and Natalie from Real Simple Photography were an easy choice for us. Their professionalism and natural reportage style really appealed for our laid-back fun wedding day. They had incredible attention to detail and blended into the background so much so that people asked if we even had a photographer!
“My Wedding” Style
Anya from Anya Bridal in Droxford picked my dress for me. I would never have picked it myself but fell in love with the lace and detail. I bought the veil from Etsy and had gypsophilia in my hair, as did the bridesmaids. Graeme and the groomsmen had suits from Bartlett and Butcher in Alton, and I bought the bridesmaid dresses from ASOS! My lovely friend Alex did my make up and Karen Clarke was the hairdresser.
“My Wedding” Vibe
We had a library/book theme combined with spring colours and Easter (as it was Easter Saturday!) We used spring flowers and floral bunting, piles of books for centrepieces, a game of thrones table plan and huge baskets of easter eggs everywhere!
My Wedding Advice…
Your wedding day will be the best day of your life! The little things don’t matter on the day. People genuinely want to help, so let them! We couldn’t have organised such an incredible day without countless bunting-makers, cake-bakers, the school band, chutney-makers and decorators in the form of friends and family. It also makes it more fun having everyone muck-in!
“My Wedding” Venue
We always said we’d get married at Bedales where Graeme teaches. We both love books and the library is so beautiful and unique. It was so special to get married somewhere we both know and love. We used the school dining hall for the reception and had great fun decorating with miles of bunting, fairy lights and Pom poms.
“My Wedding” Catering
A friend made homemade sloe gin for the tables, that didn’t last til the speeches! The wine was supplied by French family friends after a weekend’s wine-tasting near Paris. We ordered wheels of cheese from Lyburn Farm with homemade chutney and pate’s for the evening buffet and my best friend made the beautiful naked cake decorated with berries and edible flowers. I used to work for Vanilla Catering and they provided the best three-course spring menu we could have wished for!
My Wedding Highlight/s
Walking down the aisle in the library full of excitement and seeing each other for the first time. The surprise tennis racket archway as we left the library. My brother playing the first dance song with the school band!
